ABSTRACT ARTIST'S

My name is Larry DeWayne Harrell. I was born in Tyler, Texas and lived there until I was 7 years old. We moved to Lufkin, Texas where I grew up and explored the Arts. With the help
of my ex-teachers I learned about art and stayed focused on it. Today I even more involved
in the art world.

I remember as a young boy at the age 8 years old starting out in class doing Art. One day a
classmate asked me to draw with him. I said no to him at first, but then all at once I said yes.
I broke down and drew with him. Later a teacher saw my artwork and asked me to draw for
her. Another time I remember was my last day in the ninth grade. There was a picture on the
back of a magazine of a beautiful lady. They showed pictures of the human body, landscapes,
hairstyles.

It was real fun to learn about art and the way other artist's drew and painted. They are many
artist's who have helped my studies as an artist for the last 40 years.

Willem Decoying, Dutch painter influenced my life. In 1935 he joined the New York group
of abstract expressionist painters, becoming a leading member.

Jackson Pollock U.S. painter, his influence helped my studies. And became the central figure
of U.S. Abstract Expressionism.

Edger Degas, French painter, draftsman, sculptor and graphic artist. In 1861 he was back
in Paris, where he painted portraits and compositions in severely classical styles, later turning
to the painting of dancers, and portraits in an environment, which established his reputation.
This artist has had a great influence in my life for the 33 years.

I study art from 7th to 12th grade. Later on I went on the Art Institute of Houston in 1984
to study Fashion. I then went to the Guthries Job Corps Center to study offset printing
from September 1985 till February 1986. Next I joined the Institution of study multimedia
and web design and apparel design from January 2001 to September 2001.

In all my studies in school and art school, I enjoyed using graphite, water colors, acrylics and
inks. With the help from several of my instructors I was able to learn all the basic forms of
all the media's that I use today.

Now, as a Professional Artist,Painter and Photographer I have traveled much of the United States
capturing the essence of life in my artwork. Stirred as a young boy with love of drawing,
Larry's projects have include:

Projects that I have done were a mural in Guthrie, Oklahama. I did artwork for the Black
history month from 1980's to present. I displayed art for Black History in Lufkin, Texas.
Portland Community College, Youth Outreach in Newberg, Oregon. I had work displayed
in a Assisted Living in Serwood, Oregon. My artwork was displayed in the Newberg Old
Fashion Festival With the Art Vine in summer 2002. In the fall I displayed artwork in Art
Harvest Festival.

My newest projects, Working on THE ARTIST'S VIDEO-BLOG watch will keep you updated, ART BOOK SERIES how we learn from the Mixed Media,From drawing, painting that we be in my Art Studio's. To teach our young artist's more and more about Art.

Now that I live in Tigard, Oregon I can enjoy the beauty that this state offers me as an
artist and a photographer.

To me, Abstract Art encompasses many things:

The colors represent the beauty
I see in other people and things.
The lines represent the textures
of the world
The boldness means the love of others.
Style means unity of the world
